Well, here we are, back from the caves of Joachim Murietta -- the most ferocious and notorious Bandito in Early California History. We were first led to the caves by River Guide Wayne Hoyle, who had worked on the rivers as a raft guide for over 30 years, and who was very familiar with every inch of ground. Hoyle had spotted the caves on several expeditions during the mid 1960's and had waited several years until he decided to actually do something about them.
His initial exploration of the caves yielded two tin cans, one filled with coins, mostly worthless, but the second visit, with four operating metal detectors and a dry-dredge and six very active searchers, turned up a whole lot more.
